1979 - The Revolution that Shook the World’
Lectures + Photo Gallery + Film Screening
In 1979, an Islamic revolution took place which reformed a country in a way never seen before. Although it took place in Iran, its effects reverberated throughout the world. Led by Ayatollah Khomeini, it was a revolution like no other in history, in its efficiency, success and popularity. This event will aim to understand how one man revived the faith of a nation and why the regime that this revolution put in place can still be seen as successful today.

Since the event of Karbala occurred in 61 AH, the story has been retold countless times. Some commemorate the martyrdom of Husayn bin Ali (as) and mourn over the tragedy whilst others remain indifferent to it. But, if Husayn bin Ali (as) was successful in his mission then is there any significance in mourning over his loss, or should we instead appreciate his sacrifice?
The nearest stations to the venue are Warren Street, Goodge Street, Euston Square; the building is adjacent to Café Nero.
The event will begin with Du’a Kumayl.

Pray your Salaat Before Salaat is Prayed over you
If you were told that you had an opportunity to meet your role model or your desired celebrity such as the Queen, Mr Bill gates, Seyed Nasrallah or Seyed Khamanaei (hopefully not the entertainment industry celebrities) at a particular time everyday surely your heart will be filled with joy and would be counting the seconds until your meeting. You would prepare yourself by ensuring you are dressed perfectly, you smell perfect and ensure that you even arrive at least 30mins before the meeting.

Islam & Sex - Event Review
The issue of sexual ethics is considered a taboo in most Muslim circles, and very rarely talked about on the pulpit, yet a topic which affects each and every one of us. For this reason, the UCL AhlulBayt Society took the initiative and organised this event.
With the Grace of The Almighty, the event was a resounding success, with over 250 people attending. Sayed Ammar’s speech was informative, enlightening and entertaining. During the Q & A, questions poured in from the audience highlighting the relevance and need of what Sayed Ammar addressed most eloquently in his talk. The UCL AhlulBayt Society would like to thank all who attended and Sayed Ammar for his time and efforts.
If you would like to see more photos of the event, please visit the photos section of our website.

Does Islam have a sexual ethical system? How does Islam discuss sexual relationships? Homosexuality and polygamy? Gender mixing and matchmaking? Why are imams and lecturers in mosques so discouraged from discussing such an issue and should this remain the case in 21st century western and eastern circles?
